The Middletown Odessa Townsend (MOT) Rotary Club is a vibrant and active group of community leaders and professionals committed to making a positive impact in the MOT/ Delaware City areas and beyond. Through various service projects, fundraising events, and partnerships, we strive to address local needs, support education, promote health and well being, and contribute to global humanitarian efforts. Welcome to the MOT Rotary Club! We invite you to discover the MOT Rotary Club, where we come together to make a meaningful impact through community service projects. Whether it's supporting Family Help Inc., delivering Meals on Wheels, maintaining the Can Do Playground, or participating in the Camp Fairlee Clean Up, our club is committed to serving our local community. The Middletown-Odessa-Townsend (MOT) Rotary Club is a proud part of Rotary International, a worldwide network of over 1.4 million volunteers dedicated to making lasting changes in health, literacy, and peace. Guided by Rotary’s vision statement, we unite to take action that creates lasting change across the globe, in our communities, and within ourselves. Excitingly, we have extended our reach to Delaware City, Delaware with a satellite club that meets once a month to plan and collaborate with local organizations to impact the community. This expansion allows us to broaden our service and strengthen our commitment to the area. MOT Rotary Club currently meets at Buffalo Wild Wings in Middletown DE every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at noon.
During our meetings, you'll learn about our current service projects and social events, connect with like-minded individuals, and build lifelong friendships. For business owners this is also a great opportunity to network, establish business relationships, and create new opportunities while serving the community. You'll also experience the deep satisfaction that comes from living Rotary's motto: "Service Above Self." As our club continues to grow and thrive, we would love for you to join us and see firsthand how you can make a difference in our community.

A "Fun" night last night with my MOT Rotary Club's Comedy Night with a spin on our traditional Auction Night.
Missy Hall was very funny. Celeste Bevans and Anthony Bevans put on a great meal. Josh Wilson and his team did a great job organizing the event. Thank you to everyone that helped to make our first annual MOT Rotary Club COMEDY NIGHT a huge success! Special thanks to our Silent Auction Donors, Rotarians, Committee members, attendees, and the talented MISSY HALL! We can't wait to do this again next year! Mark your calendars for the 1st Wednesday in October starting at 6:59 pm! All proceeds will benefit local organizations and our annual High School Scholarship Project .

The Middletown-Odessa-Townsend Rotary Club (MOT Rotary Club) has received the go ahead on our District Grant to provide much needed vision care in Ghana, Africa. We are in the finally stages of raising additional monies to increase the positive affect this District Grant will provide.

As most of you know, Ken Wood, while drilling over 3,000 clean water wells in Ghana and Tanzania, identified that many of their citizens suffer from cataracts and poor vision. He has teamed with surgeons in those countries to perform more than 8,550 cataract surgeries for less than $200 per eye and has provided more than 27,000 glasses for only $10.

MOT Rotary Club is excited to help Ken Wood in the effort to increase the number of cataract surgeries and eyeglasses in Ghana with this wonderful Grant opportunity from our District 7630.

We are asking other Rotary Clubs to help increase the number of surgeries and eyeglasses by sending a check made out to "MOT Rotary Foundation". Mail the check to MOT Rotary Club, PO Box 201, Middletown, DE 19709.

A fun time was had by all celebrating Susan Yocum's year as Club President 2022-23 and welcoming new Club President, Patrick Carson and his 2023-24 Team. . We also awarded Susan Yocum a Paul Harris Fellow for her great service to our Club this year. A PHF was also awarded to Randy Schurbon for his great service to our Club. .

Kenny Wood, MD+DE Water Well Driller, was guest speaker at our MOT Rotary Club this past Wednesday. . His company, Lifetime Wells International, has drilled more than 3,000 clean water wells in Ghana and Tanzania, Africa. . In 2014, our Club used a District Grant to have him drill 4 wells in Tanzania in 4 villages that were losing many to contaminated water. They are still in operation today. . In addition to this incredible organization, his Lifetime Vision project has provided 8,550 eye surgeries, 27,000 glasses fitted on sight, and 54,000 eye treatments that have brought sights to thousands in Africa. .

MOT Rotary Club and the Southern New Castle County Rotary Club, both in Middletown, DE have partnered with the Rotary District 7630 for a District Grant to replace the roof at the temporary housing unit called Family Help, Inc on Lake Street in Middletown. . It was a group effort to accomplish this Grant and to get the badly needed roof replaced in the 6 unit apartment complex that has helped about 50 families transition to permanent housing over the past 13 years. . Thanks for the great help from Rotarians Bill O'Neal and Irv Brockson who also serve on the Board of Family Help, Inc. Their dedication to both Rotary and Family Help, Inc are immeasurable. . MOT Rotary Club has served the Middletown-Odessa-Townsend area for over 93 years with Rotary's Motto: "Service Above Self". . .

Special thanks to Helen and Harry Weinheimer for coordinating this drive and for Stefanie Nicole Wooten at State Farm Insurance for being a drop off point again this year.

Can Do Playground is a Boundless Playground, an integrated play area in which all children, those who are 100% enabled and those with disabilities, can play together, interactively. The objective is to design an area that is barrier free, socially inviting and contains play environment groupings. Learn more at www.boundlessplaygrounds.org. It's open!
